Burton Creek Trail Runs Description

The Burton Creek Trail Run winds through Burton Creek State Park just outside Tahoe City, California, following miles of single track through pine forest and open Sierra meadow alongside the creek that feeds Lake Tahoe. Held each June and based at Tahoe XC, the event offers a 6K and 12K alongside its signature Half Marathon, considered one of the better trail half marathons in the Tahoe basin. Runners of all levels can find a fitting distance here, with a finish-line BBQ, medals, and a laid-back mountain-town atmosphere that make it a favorite on the local trail calendar.

Always check the official race website for the most accurate and up-to-date race information and logistics.

Burton Creek Trail Runs Additional Details:

Every entrant here walks away with more than just a medal and t-shirt, registration also includes a free digital race photo and recovery snacks at the finish, extras that smaller trail races often skip. Only Half Marathon finishers get access to the post-race BBQ, giving the longer distance an extra reward for the added mileage through Burton Creek’s pine forest and Sierra meadows. On-site medical support covers the whole event, a reassuring detail on technical single-track terrain. With three distances to choose from and a genuinely laid-back mountain-town crowd, this race feels more like a community trail day than a competitive event, even though the running itself is real.
