The Crazy Mountain 100 is a point-to-point 100-mile mountain race through Montana’s rugged Crazy Mountains, starting on the Westling Ranch in Wilsall and finishing at the Berg Ranch near the ghost town of Lennep. Runners tackle roughly 23,000 feet of vertical gain, reaching elevations above 10,200 feet, over primarily singletrack trail with long unmarked, technical stretches. Traversing the Indigenous lands of the Apsaalooke people and multiple generational family ranches, this extreme, remote course is capped at 200 entrants and serves as a Western States 100 and Hardrock 100 qualifier.

Crazy Mountain 100 Additional Details:
Entry to the Crazy Mountain 100 is capped at 200 runners and awarded via lottery, with applicants required to submit a qualifying result from the prior two years and complete eight hours of trail or volunteer work before race day. The race begins Friday at 6:00 AM with a mandatory shuttle to the start near Wilsall, and runners must clear a strict 36-hour cutoff by 6:00 PM Saturday. Free tent and van camping is available creekside at the Lennep finish line, where a post-race celebration and awards ceremony follows at 6:15 PM. Runners must carry mandatory gear including a headlamp, rain jacket, and emergency blanket, and pacers are permitted only after the Halfmoon aid station. Dogs are welcome at aid stations and the finish but must remain leashed at all times.
