Hood Hundred Description

The Hood Hundred is a 100.1-mile lollipop-loop course circling Mt. Hood, staged at Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Area in the Mt. Hood National Forest near Government Camp, Oregon. Runners climb roughly 17,700 feet across singletrack, doubletrack, gravel, and paved sections, tracing a 20-mile stem into a sprawling 60-mile figure-eight loop before returning to the finish. Organized by Daybreak Racing and presented by Brooks, the race caps its field at 250 runners and doubles as a Western States Endurance Run qualifier for those who finish inside the 34-hour cutoff.

Hood Hundred Additional Details:

Hood Hundred requires runners to complete a service requirement before racing, satisfied through race directing, volunteering at an ultramarathon, trail maintenance, or a minimum $100 donation to a trail stewardship nonprofit, a nod to Hardrock 100’s long-standing model. Crews split into Yellow and Green groups to prevent overcrowding at four aid stations, with runners choosing a group at registration; pacers can join at Underhill Aid Station (mile 55.1), though only one may accompany a runner at a time. All runners must carry two working headlamps and spare batteries for the overnight hours between 8 PM and 6 AM. Aid stations are cupless, so runners and crews must bring their own drinking vessels. A portion of race proceeds benefits 44 Trails, the nonprofit that maintains much of the course on Mt. Hood’s east side.
