Route 66 Marathon Description

The Route 66 Marathon celebrates America’s iconic highway each November in Tulsa, Oklahoma, passing the BOK Center, Cox Business Center, and Woodward Park along the Arkansas River. The fast, flat, Boston-qualifying course pairs with a half marathon, relay, 5K, and kids’ marathon the same weekend. Enthusiastic crowds and local bands line the streets throughout this community-driven celebration of Tulsa’s history and culture.

Always check the official race website for the most accurate and up-to-date race information and logistics.

Route 66 Marathon Additional Details:

Neighborhood support here blurs the line between official and unofficial, some stretches offer up music and drinks, even the occasional shot, making it genuinely hard to tell which aid stations are sanctioned and which are just enthusiastic locals. The finisher medals lean into fun over formality: a blue whale design one year, a spinning “Goddess of Speed” medal with a flat base built to display like a trophy another. Aid stations show up every two miles with plenty of water, medic support, and portable toilets throughout. It adds up to a race that feels less like a course to finish and more like a Route 66 road trip through Tulsa’s history and community pride.
