Sioux Falls Marathon Description

The Sioux Falls Marathon starts and finishes at Howard Wood Field in downtown Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with the final stretch crossing the finish line on the stadium track. The USATF-certified course is a Boston Qualifier, taking runners past Falls Park and along one of the nation’s top-ranked urban bike trail systems. Held every September, it’s the centerpiece of South Dakota’s biggest marathon weekend, which also includes a half marathon and a 5K. Pace groups support a wide range of finish times, making the flat, scenic route a popular pick for first-time marathoners and BQ hopefuls alike.

Sioux Falls Marathon Additional Details:

The course saves its best moment for last: runners finish directly on the stadium track inside Howard Wood Field, a genuinely memorable way to close out 26.2 miles. Along the way, aid stations offer steady hydration and cheerful volunteer support, though slower runners and walkers should carry extra water since a few stations have been known to run dry late in the day. Finishers take home a medal featuring the Sioux Falls skyline, then head to a well-stocked post-race spread of food and drinks. Falls Park and the city’s scenic bike trail system round out a route locals are proud to show off.
