Eugene Marathon Description
The Eugene Marathon starts in the shadow of legendary Hayward Field each April, drawing a record field to Track Town USA for a flat, fast, Boston-qualifying loop. The first 10 miles wind through University of Oregon neighborhoods alongside the half marathon before the course settles onto the scenic Ruth Bascom Riverbank Path along the Willamette River for the second half. With a strong running culture and enthusiastic local support throughout, Eugene is a favorite for chasing a fast time or a first Boston qualifier.

Eugene Marathon Additional Details:
Every finisher medal here contains an actual piece of salvaged wood from Hayward Field’s original East Grandstand, timbers that stood for nearly a century and watched countless track legends compete before the stadium’s rebuild. Springfield High School’s woodshop program mills and finishes each one, engraving “LEGENDS” into the grain, and the pattern varies medal to medal: dense, tight rings mean old-growth lumber, while wider spacing suggests wood from a past repair. Runners get to experience Hayward Field firsthand too, the final 200 meters plays out on the actual track, with thousands of spectators packed into the stands cheering the last stretch home. Few marathons anywhere let finishers literally carry home a piece of the ground they just raced across.
