Beaverhead 100K Description

The Beaverhead 100K is a true high-altitude mountain race, tracing the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail along the Idaho–Montana border each July. Starting at Bannock Pass and finishing near Salmon, Idaho, the course stays above 8,500 feet on average, crossing scree fields, ridgelines, and remote alpine terrain on a mix of single-track and rugged doubletrack. It’s a demanding, low-key race built for runners who want genuine backcountry exposure, and it doubles as a Western States 100 qualifier.

Always check the official race website for the most accurate and up-to-date race information and logistics.

Beaverhead 100K Additional Details:

Because the course sits so high for so long, runners rarely drop into the deep river valleys that border it, instead staying exposed to mountain weather and thin air for the better part of 62 miles. The route is well marked with official CDT signage, cairns, and added flagging, and aid stations are stocked with standard ultra fare plus Tailwind hydration. This is a no-pacer race, though by the time most runners would want one, they’re nearly finished. Packet pickup and a pre-race meeting happen the evening before in Salmon, and shuttle service connects the start, aid stations, and finish for crews navigating the remote course roads.
