IMTUF 100 Description

The IMTUF 100 (Idaho Mountain Trail Ultra Festival) is a 103.9-mile loop course through the Salmon River Mountains, starting and finishing at Jug Mountain Ranch near McCall, Idaho. Runners cross eight high passes and climb more than 20,000 feet on rugged, technical trails through deep canyons, alpine ridges, and remote backcountry, often crossing paths with elk, bears, and wolves. Organized since 2012, the race is both a Western States Endurance Run qualifier and a Hardrock 100 qualifier, drawing seasoned mountain runners to one of the toughest 100-milers in the country.

IMTUF 100 Additional Details:

IMTUF has earned a reputation as a post-doctoral level mountain race, one that demands a lifetime of rugged mountain experience before lining up. The course changes its exact route periodically, but the character stays constant: brutal, technical footing that runners often compare to Wasatch 100, only tougher. A companion 20-mile Jughandle race shares the opening miles before splitting off near Boulder Lake. Crews and pacers may only provide support at designated aid stations such as Upper Payette Lake, Snowslide Trailhead, and Chinook Campground, and pacers must check in and out at approved points without ever muling gear for their runner. The race weekend typically falls during peak elk rut, so bugling bulls are a common soundtrack alongside sightings of bears, wolves, and moose along the Salmon River Mountains.
