Bigfoot 200 Description
Bigfoot 200 circles the volcanic landscape around Mount St. Helens in Washington’s Cascade Mountains each August, covering just over 200 miles and more than 44,000 feet of climbing point-to-point. Runners move through lava fields, old-growth forest, misty ridgelines, and lake basins on a multi-day journey supported by a dozen full aid stations and five sleep stations along the way. It’s one of the more demanding entries on the Western States 100 qualifying list, built for runners chasing a genuine multi-day wilderness challenge rather than a single-day race.

Bigfoot 200 Additional Details:
Bigfoot’s scale means runners plan around sleep stations as much as aid stations, breaking the effort into manageable segments across the multi-day course. The route stays almost entirely on National Forest land, moving through terrain that shifts from volcanic rock and lava fields to deep, rainforest-like old growth and exposed mountain ridgelines with sweeping views. Given the remoteness of much of the course, drop bags and crew access are concentrated at the full aid stations rather than every checkpoint. Runners should expect the Pacific Northwest’s variable mountain weather — misty mornings, warm afternoons, and cold nights are all part of a Bigfoot finish.
