Cocodona 250 Description

The Cocodona 250 links together 253 miles of Arizona’s most iconic trails and mountain towns, from Black Canyon City up through the historic mining town of Crown King, over Mingus Mountain into Jerome, across the red rock of Sedona, and finally through the pines into Flagstaff. Runners have up to 125 hours to complete the point-to-point course, gaining roughly 38,800 feet of climbing along the way. It’s one of ultrarunning’s true classics: a multi-day journey through nearly every landscape Arizona has to offer, from desert canyons to high-country pine forest.

Cocodona 250 Additional Details:

Race check-in and drop-bag drop-off happen the day before, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the start line at Deep Canyon Ranch in Black Canyon City. On race morning, SPOT trackers and capacity checks run from 3:45 to 4:45 AM ahead of the 5:00 AM start. From there, runners are on their own clock for up to 125 hours, working through a chain of aid stations along the route before finishing in downtown Flagstaff at Heritage Square, where Cocodona and Aravaipa merchandise stays on sale from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM through the final finishers. Given the point-to-point layout across multiple mountain towns, most runners plan overnight lodging in Flagstaff and along the course in advance, since rooms near the finish sell out well ahead of race week.
