Javelina Jundred Description

The Javelina Jundred is a costumed Halloween-weekend ultramarathon held each October in McDowell Mountain Regional Park near Fountain Hills, Arizona. Known as the original 100-mile trail run party, runners complete repeated loops of desert singletrack past saguaro cactus and rocky washes, with 100 mile and 100K distance options. A Western States Golden Ticket race and UTMB Index event, it draws one of the largest fields in American ultrarunning, all racing in costume through the “Jalloween” night.

Javelina Jundred Additional Details:

Javelina is famous for its party atmosphere as much as its racing, with runners in full costume tackling loop after loop of rolling desert singletrack past saguaro cactus and rocky washes. Four aid stations circle the course, including Jackass Junction, where a full-blown party breaks out complete with music and themed decor to keep tired legs moving. Crews get to see their runner every loop without driving anywhere, watching the race unfold from Javelina Jeadquarters while enjoying food trucks, a beer garden, and a genuinely festive base camp. As a Western States Golden Ticket race, the top two men and women in the 100 mile earn automatic entry into the following year’s Western States 100, drawing an unusually competitive front pack to an event best known for its costumes and camaraderie. It’s equal parts serious racing and Halloween party.
