Each finisher medallion here is handmade by members of the First Light community, a genuinely one-of-a-kind keepsake rather than a mass-produced medal, and it’s a detail longtime finishers point to as a reason they keep coming back. True to Mobile’s Mardi Gras heritage, several aid stations along the course lean into the carnival spirit with festive decorations and live jazz filling the air. The celebration continues at Mardi Gras Park right next to the finish line, where a post-race gala keeps the party going well past the last finisher. It’s a small, accessible race that borrows Mobile’s biggest cultural tradition and applies it to a Sunday morning marathon.
