Burton Creek Trail Runs

The Burton Creek Trail Run is a scenic and challenging trail running event set in the heart of Burton Creek State Park, just outside Tahoe City, California. The course winds through miles of pine forest single track and open High Sierra meadows, offering runners a true Tahoe trail experience. Following the path of Burton Creek, which gathers runoff from the Mt. Watson watershed before flowing into Lake Tahoe, the race combines natural beauty with an adventurous course layout.

Participants can choose from a 6K, 12K, or Half Marathon distance. Each route is thoughtfully designed to be fun, rewarding, and accessible for both experienced trail runners and those new to the sport. The Half Marathon, in particular, is recognized as one of the premier trail races in the Lake Tahoe region.

Your registration includes an event T-shirt, finisher medal, free digital race photo, access to beautiful racing venues, and a course that is both challenging and enjoyable. Recovery snacks and on-site medical staff are provided for all runners, and Half Marathon participants also receive a complimentary BBQ lunch after the race.
